It was bound to happen; the weather has definitely taken a turn for Fall. I think the reason it’s a little hard to take, is because our spring and summer has been so exceptional. Beautiful weather, warm breezy days lead just to wanting more and more. Chilly weather has one major upside though – more time for quilting and creating!
Just in time for Wednesday, here is Elena’s beautiful, quilted gem; my Quilt of the Week. I discovered her work via etsy. It’s become very apparent to me that many talented quilters display their fabric artwork on etsy.
I really love the scrappy appearance of this baby quilt – Elena used 1930 reproduction cottons to craft her little jewel, making a beautiful, original baby quilt. Her use of English Paper piecing has allowed her to skillfully hand piece and precisely match all points throughout the project.
Elena has recently packed up and moved her life from North Carolina to Texas….she totally loves her new home. Quilting for well over 30 years, she is an accomplished quilt instructor and pattern designer. Her website is www.quiltsbyelena.com and you can visit her etsy shop, “carolinasquirrel” at http://www.etsy.com/shop/carolinasquirrell?ref=seller_info.
Like Debbie Homick of Happy Little Cottage, Elena also prints her quilt labels at home, using Print Your Own Fabric Labels.
Elena has a son currently serving in the U.S. military – he is halfway through his second deployment. God bless those brave and heroic men and women who have chosen to serve their country.
Till later.
Kim
